Using drones for underwriting inspection or claims adjustment, slicing and dicing “big data” to develop rating plans, streamlining processes for payment or reporting through the use of blockchain – it’s all about Insurtech these days. This brave new world means insurers, policyholders, agents and vendors are increasingly relying on new systems and devices to make the insurance life cycle more efficient and valuable, and insurance professionals need to learn as much as possible about how advances in technology continue to impact the business of insurance.

Mr. Layman earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology with specialization in structural engineering. He has over 5 years of consulting engineering experience in structural design, analysis, evaluation, inspections and construction management and is a licensed professional engineer in Florida and California. Mr. Layman’s experience prior to joining Rimkus Consulting Group, Inc. includes structural analysis, design, construction management, and inspections as well as other engineering services for non-building structures, including the railway and transportation industries.

Christopher has 25+ years’ experience in the financial services industry with varied projects including organizational transformation, process improvement, roadmap development, PMO & all facets of technology. Experience includes projects related to process re-engineering, data analytics, system integration & relationship management. The Institutes RiskStream Collaborative is an unprecedented, industry-led consortium collaborating to unlock the potential of blockchain across the insurance industry. RiskStream will accelerate time to market and adoption through real-world applications and impactful blockchain use cases.

Dr. Patty Born

Associate Professor in the Department of Risk Management/Insurance, Real Estate and Business Law
Florida State University

Dr. Born received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University and her B.A. from the University of Michigan. She teaches courses in risk management, insurance, and economics at all academic levels. Her research interests include insurance regulation, medical malpractice markets, health insurance & catastrophe modeling.She has published numerous articles and is Co-Editor of the Risk Management and Insurance Review.

From the Beaches:  Take J. TURNER BUTLER BLVD. WEST to I-95 N.  From I-95 N, follow to EXIT # 350A (Downtown). Get into the exit lane for MAIN ST.  Go over the Main Street Bridge.  Make a LEFT turn onto BAY ST.  Go two blocks and turn LEFT onto LAURA ST.  The entrance to the underground parking garage is immediately on your left.  River Club parking is on the lower level.

Traveling on I-95 North:  Exit #350A (Downtown).  Get into the exit lane for MAIN ST.  Go over the Main Street Bridge.  Make a LEFT turn onto BAY ST.  Go two blocks to and turn LEFT onto LAURA ST.  The entrance to the underground parking garage is immediately on your left.  River Club parking is on the lower level.

Traveling on I-95 South:  Exit #353B (Union Street). Exit is from the left hand lane towards DOWNTOWN/SPORTS COMPLEX.  Keep LEFT at the fork to go on W UNION ST.  Turn RIGHT onto N MAIN ST.  Turn RIGHT onto W BAY ST.  Turn LEFT onto S LAURA ST.  The entrance to the underground parking garage is immediately on your left once you’re on Laura St.  River club parking is on the lower level.

From Jacksonville Naval Air Station:  Take US17 N (ROOSEVELT BLVD).  Stay STRAIGHT to go onto ROOSEVELT EXPY.  Merge onto I-10 EAST.  Merge onto I-95 N via the exit on the LEFT toward SPORTS COMPLEX/ DOWNTOWN/ INT'L AIRPORT.  Exit at FORSYTH ST Exit 352B.  Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto W FORSYTH ST.  Turn RIGHT onto N LAURA ST. The entrance to the underground parking garage is immediately on your left once you cross Bay Street.  River club parking is on the lower level.

From the parking garage take the elevator to the first floor Lobby.  Look for the elevator bank that says Floors 24-35.  The event is on the 35th floor in the Florida Room. If your have any questions, please call (904) 354-1111.
